SHOPPING MALL
2011
Tunis, Tunisia
GFA 14000 m2, 6 millions USD, 7 storey (max)
Concept Design: Mattia Malavenda
Client: Carmadesign
The project site is located at the north of Tunis in a commercial and peripheric are in which are present two other malls of bigger size.

The new mall will contain luxury brand stores and retails, a food court, 4-star hotel, cinema and an ice-skating rink.
Must have an iconic architectural concept, differenciating it from the other malls.
Taking inspiration from the near desert, the architectural design concept is based on the virtualized form of a scorpion.

The mixed-use affinity, in addition to stores and retails, well suit the biomorphic virtualization of the scorpion: its arms shape the hotel and cinema, the body forms the stores and the tail characterize the geometry of the ice rink's dome.
Inside the mall, the shopping corridor - the scorpion’s spine - is a curved gallery three floors high, with the serie of stores and retails at each side at the ground and first floor, ending with the recreational area (ice-skating rink and restaurants).

This curved gallery creates spatial depth and a suggestive perspective of the interior.
